R&D Focus Areas of the Group
- Compound semiconductor (III-nitrides, GaAs etc.) based optoelectronic devices such as LEDs (UV, blue, white, Green, RED, IR/MIR), laser diodes (450 nm, 480 nm), QCL etc.
- GaN Power Devices (HEMTs, Diodes)
- Detectors (pyroelectric, III-nitrides)
- Sensors (Flexible, PZT)
- Optical Filters (visible, MIR region)
Vision
- Group vision is to develop the state of art technologies for Indian industries in field of semiconductors and optoelectronics (III-nitrides, III-V material based devices like LEDs, laser diodes, detectors, GaN power devices (HEMTs), detectors (IR, terahertz), linear variable filters, sensors etc. to step toward the “Atma Nirbhar Bharat” Government of India Mission for import substitution.
Mission
- To develop state-of-art technologies and to provide technologies and support to Indian industries, start-ups, academic institutions, DRDO etc. in the field of semiconductor and optoelectronics devices for import substitution.
Mandate
- To focus on R&D in the emerging field of III-nitrides, III-V compound semiconductors, and other materials, such as Si, lithium tantalate, diamond etc. based technologies for devices/systems to make India “self-reliance” in these research areas
- IP generation and delivery of innovative products/ technologies
- Manpower development for semiconductor industries/start-ups
- International Collaboration
- Networking with CSIR Labs and other reputed Indian R & D groups
