Dr. Rajendra Kumar Verma is working as Senior Scientist in Vacuum Electron Devices Development group of CSIR-Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-CEERI), Pilani; involved in the design and development of vacuum electron devices (VEDs) especially Pulsed and continuous wave (CW) magnetrons. He is also an Assistant Professor at Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR). He received his B.E. degree from Institute of Engineering, Jiwani University, M.P with a gold medal in 2011 batch followed by M.Tech. (2014) and Ph.D. (2020) from AcSIR, Ghaziabad U.P. His research involvement with the microwave devices and vacuum electron tubes is over 8 years. He has about 14 research publications in peer-reviewed journals or international conferences.

He is actively involved in the field of design and development of high-power microwave and millimetre-wave magnetrons and associated components, and subsystems. In addition, also have worked in quasi optical studies and its implementation to develop a free space calibration test setup at mm & sub-mm, and THz Frequencies. His current research interests include design of high-power microwave and millimetre-wave devices (magnetrons), their thermal and electrical modelling, and simulation. Quasi optical components and system study. Design and Development of Microwave Assisted Cold Plasma systems for biomedical applications.

Some of his achievements and Projects Completed/Involved are listed below:

    1. Design and Development of 2.6 MW S-Band Tunable Pulse Magnetron
      Indigenous development of 2.6 MW pulsed magnetrons at 2.856 GHz for Industrial, Medical (cancer treatment) and Security (Cargo Screening Machines) Applications delivered to BARC.
    2. Design and Development of 3 MW S-Band Tunable Pulse Magnetron
      Indigenous development of 3 MW pulsed magnetrons at 2.856 GHz for Industrial, Medical (cancer treatment) and Security (Cargo Screening Machines) Applications delivered to BARC.
    3. Design and Development of 10 kW CW Industrial Magnetron.
      Indigenous development of 10 kW CW Magnetron at 2.45 GHz. CW magnetrons for microwave-based heating systems in food, paper, and textile industries as well as scientific fraternity.
    4. Technology Development for 170 GHz Long Pulse RF Window
      RF windows are one such component of transmission system which is used to protect vacuum of the gyrotron (act as gas pressure barrier) being essentially transparent to the millimeter wave radiations. These windows are required to be capable of handling megawatt level continuous wave power with Gaussian distribution at frequencies 100GHz and beyond.
    5. Development of Glass Sealed RF Window for 4 MW Magnetron
      Under this project, CSIR-CEERI is contributing in the development of Glass sealed RF window to be used as output coupling section in magnetrons. The industry-specific technological criticalities mastered in the projects are glass to metal seal, vacuum tightness and transparency to microwave power with minimum loss.
