I have more than ten years research experience in the field microwave tubes. Broadly my research area is electromagnetic and microwave engineering and in particular vacuum based high power, high-frequency millimeter/THz wave sources. I did Ph.D. on the design and development of high power gyrotrons. I was mainly involved in the design of different parts of gyrotron, development of design codes, development of 42 GHz/200 kW, 120 GHz/1 MW and 170 GHz/500 kW gyrotrons. I also worked on the feasibility study of new kinds of gyrotron design approach such as multi-frequency gyrotron, double beam gyrotron, magnetically tunable electron beam source, frequency tunable gyrotrons, etc. I am working on microwave tube design tools such as MAGIC, CST, HFSS and ANSYS. I also worked on Vector Network Analyzer for the cold measurements of gyrotron cavity. During the ten year research period, I published 58 research papers in SCI journal of repute and 50 papers in conference proceedings as the author or co-author. I am also a co-author of a patent filed on gyrotron development.
Specific skill: Electrical design of interaction cavity, beam tunnel and MIG for gyrotron.
Areas of Expertise:
- Electrical design of different components of Gyrotron using different computer codes.
- Engineering drawing in Auto-CAD
- Vacuum processing of microwave tubes
Projects involved in:
- Development of beam compression region for 95 GHz Gyrotron (Sponsored by MTRDC-DRDO)
- Design and development of 100 kW, 170 GHz gyrotron (Sponsored by CSIR)
