Dr. C. Kumaravelu is a Chief Scientist at CSIR-Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute (CEERI), Chennai. With over 32 years of R&D experience he has worked in various R&D projects include testing and commissioning of various online sensors for process automation in the Pulp and Paper industries, development of control system for the rubber roll sheller, control and monitoring the apple sorter system through PLC and HMI, development of non-destructive measurement system to estimate the Free Fatty Acid (FFA) parameter in edible oil, development AI enabled waste plastics sorting system using NIR spectroscopy for Resource Recovery from Polyolefins and development of handheld plastic type detector-AN AI enabled protable solution for identifying plastic polymers.

Academic Background
He obtained his B.Sc.(Physics) from Madras University, Chennai, B.Tech(Electronics) from Madras Institute of Technology, Anna University, Chennai, M.S(By Research) from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Chennai and Ph.D from Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai with a dissertation title on “Studies on Non-Destructive quality evaluation for selected Agro based materials using Multivariate Analysis ”.

Area of Scientific Interest
His current research interest includes Multivariate analysis for the agro-food industry products for its quality assessment non-destructively using NIR spectroscopy Techniques.
