Dr. Kamaljit Rangra is Chief Scientist, Professor AcSIR, and Head Transducers and Actuators Group at CSIR-Central Electronics Engineering Institute, Pilani. A fellow of IEI, IETE, MSI and SSI, he also served as Professor (Honorary), adjunct faculty, IIEST Shibpur West Bengal, for a few years.

After his MSc in Physics from Punjabi University Patiala he joined CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh and worked in the area of Analytical Instrumentation (AES, ESCA, and ISS). He joined CSIR-CEERI, Pilani in 1986 as Scientist and his assignments included SEM-microprocessor interface for electron beam writing (EBL), image acquisition and processing for voltage contrast, EBIC, and alignment techniques. He received his ME (Microelectronics, 1990-92) from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani and Ph.D. degree (2001-2005) under the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of Italy, Fellowship from Dept. of Informatics and Telecommunication Engineering, University of Trento, Italy and worked on Radio Frequency MEMS – a European Space Agency activity. His short-term research assignments also include visits to Dept. of Electrical Engineering Herriot Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland, Dept. of Electronics and Computer Engg., University of Bologna, Italy, etc. His research interests include Radio Frequency MEMS for strategic sectors applications, multi- morph structures for applications such as high Q MEMS filters, robotics & biomedical instrumentations, IR, UV, and FBAR transducer development for food and environmental quality monitoring applications and inertial sensors. He is responsible for establishing the RF MEMS research group at CSIR-CEERI and collaboration with user groups at SAC ISRO. He also had been leading the 2 – 3 inch common semiconductor fabrication facility. Over last twelve years, eight of his Ph.D. and 24 of M Tech students have submitted/been awarded their degrees. His team has published more than 120 papers in journals and reputed international and national conferences.
